Delah “Jean” (Hefti) Elbert, the daughter of Albert and Gertrude (Stoddard) Hefti was born August 10, 1930 at home in rural LuVerne, IA.
Her childhood years were spent in the LuVerne area where she received her education graduating from Vernon Country School in 1948. She attended Westmar College in LeMars, IA and taught Kindergarten in Goldfield, IA.
Jean married Ed Elbert on February 7, 1959 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Livermore, IA. She made her home in LuVerne, IA until moving to Spencer, IA in 1975. She worked at Books and Things in the craft department, where she specialized in counted cross stitch until her retirement.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer, IA.
Jean enjoyed making baked goods, especially cookies, listening to music and spending time with her family, grandchildren and friends.
Jean passed away peacefully at her home of 46 years on April 4, 2021 at the age of 90. She was preceded in by her parents: Albert and Gertrude; one twin brother, Darrell; husband, Ed and her son, Joel “Joey”.
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa of Milford, IA; two grandchildren: Alyssa of West Des Moines, IA and Casey of Spirit Lake, IA; one sister, Betty Helm of Greene, IA; other beloved relatives and friends.
