Merla “Jean” Halverson, the daughter of Forrest and Margaret (Duis) Fink, was born April 14, 1940 in Rural Sibley, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent on a farm between Sibley and Little Rock, Iowa, where she received her education, graduating from Little Rock High School.
Jean married Merle Dammann and to this union was born three children: Cindy, Cheri and Monty. They made their home in Sanborn, Paullina and Spencer. She worked at Lundell Dept. Store in Paullina and Shoppers Supply in Spencer.
She married Frank Tielbur and they moved to Arnolds Park, Iowa, where they enjoyed their home on Lake Minnewashta for many years until Frank’s death in 2004. She then moved back to Spencer.
Jean married Norm Halverson. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Spencer. They spent winter months in Mission, TX. Jean recently attended Riverview Chapel Services at her new home at Riverview Terrace.
She passed away at Longhouse Residence in Spencer, Iowa on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at the age of 79. Jean was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands: Merle Dammann and Frank Tielbur; a brother, Eldon Fink & 2 son-in-laws: Jim Hoppe and Randy Woolery.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Norm; her children: Cindy (Neal) Drefke, Cheri Woolery and Randy Wise, Monty (Monica) Dammann, all of Spencer; 9 grandchildren: Chris Pauling of Sarasota, FL, Lyndsey Raffelson of Austin, MN, Beau Hoppe of Ames, IA, Jesse Damman and Caitlin Roush both of Spencer; Nathan Woolery of Sioux Falls, SD, Sam Woolery of Estherville, IA, Emma Nelson of Everly, IA, Alex Woolery of Spencer; 17 great grandchildren with 1 on the way; one sister-in-law, Delores Fink of Owatonna, Minnesota; 2 step-sons, Kent (Glennis) Halverson of Alta, IA and Brian Halverson and Denise Williams of Sioux Rapids, IA; other relatives and many friends.
