Jeanette Dolores Holiday

Jeanette Dolores (Andersen) Holiday, the daughter of Hartman and Anna (Lundblad) Andersen, was born December 4, 1929 in Gillett Grove, Iowa. Jeanette grew up in Gillett Grove and graduated from Gillett Grove Consolidated High School in 1947. After high school, she attended business school and worked as a secretary for Ben Abben in Spencer. Jeanette married Julian Curtis ('Jack') Holiday on May 1, 1949. Following their marriage, they farmed with Jack's parents, originally in Gillett Grove and later on a farm near Spencer. They moved into Spencer in 1962 when Jack started his real estate and auction business. Jeanette was 'Director' of the household and a very loving mother to their four children: Mark Richard, Bradley Jay, Rick David, and Merry Kay. She was a wonderful cook and her home was often the 'Holiday Inn' for gatherings with family and friends. Jeanette treasured the time she spent with her family. After Jack's death, she enjoyed volunteering for Spencer Hospital and participating in activities with her 'lunch bunch' friends and her condominium association neighbors. She moved to Clive, IA in 2010 to be closer to her children. Jeanette passed away in her home on February 3, 2014 at the age of 84. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jack in 2002, her brothers Erling and Carlo, and her sisters, Lilly (Mangold) and Marguirete (Arthur). Left to cherish her memory are her loving children: Mark and his wife, Kathy of Altoona; Brad and his wife, Melissa of Poway, CA; Rick and his wife, Julie of Grimes; and Merry and her husband, Mike Gerzema of Urbandale. She is also survived by her 8 grandchildren: Dan, Katie, William, Teresa, Tim, Adam, Joshua and Megan; and one brother, Ernest ('Sam') Andersen of Spirit Lake; and other relatives and friends.
