Jeanette Marie Steinbeck, the daughter of John and Marie (Berberich) Norman, was born on January 17, 1927, in Royal, Iowa. She was raised on a farm north of Royal and attended school in Everly, where she graduated in 1945. Following high school, she continued her education by attending Buena Vista College. Jean then taught country school near Everly for a couple of years.
On February 4, 1948, Jean married Leland Steinbeck in Royal, IA. Following their marriage, the couple lived on a farm outside of Royal where she remained the rest of her life. Jean worked at Longhouse/Northshire Nursing Home as a housekeeper for 20 years. She was a member of the St. Louis Catholic Church in Royal and was involved in the Ladies Aid. Jean's greatest joy was spending time with her family.
Jean passed away on Thursday, May 3, 2012, at her farm surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-mother, Edna Norman and her husband.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Craig Steinbeck (Rose) of Spirit Lake, IA, Lynne Butterfield (Clayton) of Liberal, KS, David Steinbeck (Paula) of Spencer, IA, Steven Steinbeck (Sharon) of Everly, IA, Connie Haddican (Michael) Santana, KS, Dennis Steinbeck (Sharon) of Everly, IA, Susan Tomason (Dana) of Dickens, IA and Nancy Kramer (Dana) of Spencer, IA; 21 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; brother, John Norman (Virginia) of Weston, MO; sister, Betty Sindt of Everly, IA; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, May 8, 2012, at the St. Louis Catholic Church in Royal.

VISITATION
Visitation will begin after 2:00 P.M., Monday, with the family present from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M., Monday evening at the Warner Funeral Home in Everly.
There will be a Vigil Service at 5:00 P.M., Monday evening at the Warner Funeral Home in Everly.
