Jeanette "Tootie" L. Halquist, the daughter of Harry L. and Clara (Ellingson) Lund, was born July 18, 1926, in Laurens, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in Laurens where she received her education, graduating from Laurens High School. She later attended UNI in Cedar Falls, Iowa, and graduated with a B.A. degree from Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Jeanette married Loren "Dale" Halquist on June 27, 1948. After their marriage, they lived in the communities of Lake Park, Spirit Lake, Mason City and Fort Dodge before moving to Spencer. She taught kindergarten classes in Everly until her retirement. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer where she was active with the Ladies Circle. Tootie enjoyed playing bridge and 500, volunteering at the hospital and Senior Center, and knitting and reading throughout the years.
Tootie passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2014, at the age of 87. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dale on April 21, 2006; and one brother, Wayne Lund.
Left to cherish her memory are one daughter, Connie and her husband, Bill Brown of Emmetsburg, IA; one son, Kent and his wife, Mary of League City, TX; 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Marjorie Lund; other relatives and many friends.
SERVICES
Memorial services will be held 1:00 P.M., Thursday, June 12, 2014 at the Warner Chapel in Spencer.
