Jeanine Mae Thomas

Jeanine Mae Thomas, the daughter of John and Gertrude (Johansen) Johanson, was born April 23, 1939, in St. Paul, Nebraska. She received her early education in St. Paul and later moved to Royal and graduated from the Royal High School in 1957. On May 31, 1957, Jeanine married Rollie Thomas at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Royal. Following their marriage they lived in Spencer and then to an acreage near Greenville for over 17 years. They moved back to Spencer in 1988, while living in Spencer, Jeanine worked at J.C. Penney's for several years. She was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church. Jeanine was an excellent seamstress, an avid reader, she was very creative and enjoyed most any craft including woodworking. She mostly enjoyed having coffee with her sisters and spending time with her grandchildren. Jeanine passed away on October 13, 2010, at St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer at the age of 71. She is preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Daryl Johanson and one sister, Darlene Englert. She is survived by her husband, Rollie of Spencer; her children and their spouses: Lori Gray (Terry) of Arnolds Park, IA, Steve Thomas (Marla) of Spencer, IA, Craig Thomas (Jane) of Sioux Falls, SD and Jill Chicras (Paul) of Zimmerman, MN; grandchildren: Alissa Hansen (Matt), Katie Gray, John and Sara Thomas, Kylie and Parker Thomas, Devin and Drew Chicras; great-grandchildren, Kelsi and Blake Hansen; sisters, Marlene Moding (Clair) of Everly, IA and Marjorie Mortensen (Keith) of Royal, IA; brothers, LaVern Johanson (JoAnn) of Peterson, IA and James Johanson (Andrea) of Eden, GA; special friends, Jeff and Emily Sorenson and family; other relatives and friends.
