Jeannette C. Gordon

Jeanette C. Gordon, the daughter of E. L and Amy Hopkins Coffman, was born June 26, 1917 in Laurens, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in Laurens, Iowa, where she received her education, graduating in 1935. Following her graduation from high school, she attended and graduated from Buena Vista College with a degree in Elementary Education. Following college, she taught at several communities until moving to Linn Grove, where she made her home. Jeanette married Donald M. Gordon on July 31, 1949 in Storm Lake, Iowa. Following their marriage, they remained in Linn Grove, where she resided for 43 years. She moved to Peterson in 1989 and later to Spencer in 2002. She was a member of Riverside Presbyterian Church in Linn Grove. Jeanette was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Gordon passed away at the Spencer Hospital on Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at the age of 89. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Gordon on October 31, 1969; an infant daughter, Mary Louise Gordon; a twin sister, Jean Stewart and a son, James Gordon. She is survived by one son: Michael and his wife, Kim Gordon of Spencer, IA; one grandson, Donald Gordon of Spencer, IA; a sister, Ruth Jafvert of Okoboji, IA; one niece, Juliana Jafvert of Seattle, WA; a nephew, Ted Jafvert of Wisconsin; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral Services will be held 10:00 A.M., Saturday, January 6, 2007 at the Warner Chapel in Spencer. A lunch will be served following the graveside services at Riverside Presbyterian Church in Linn Grove.
