Jeffrey Leo Balk, the son of Andrew and Anna (Cuchna) Balk, was born on October 13, 1959, in Guttenberg, Iowa. He was raised and received his early education in Clayton, IA and graduated from Garnavillo High School. On October 21, 1978, Jeffrey married Lorrie Kinkead in Clayton, IA. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Marion, IA, where Jeff worked at Cedar Rapids Grain Service, as a grain technician. The couple moved to Spencer in 1995. Jeff worked at General Machine Works as a CNC operator, and then at Max Yield Coop in Dickens, for the last 3 years. Jeff was a Chicago sports fan, he enjoyed following the Bears and Cubs. He also tried to play a little golf in his spare time. Jeff loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandson, Wyatt. Jeff passed away on September 6, 2011 at the age of 51. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Andrew. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Lorrie of Spencer, IA; two sons: Matthew and his wife, Elizabeth of Stockton, CA and Brian and his wife, Katie of Spencer, IA; one grandson, Wyatt; 5 brothers: William of Cedar Rapids, IA, James of Elma, IA, Roger of Garnavillo, IA, Tom of Aurora, CO, and Rich of West Union, IA; four sisters: Helen Barrett of Ayrshire, IA, Roseann Kraus of Garnavillo, IA, Karolyn Balk of Clayton, IA and Sandra Anderson of Liberty Hill, TX; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral Services will be Saturday, September 10, at 11:00 A.M., at the Warner Chapel in Spencer.

VISITATION
Visitation will begin at 8:00 a.m., Saturday, with the family present from 9:00a.m., until the service time at the Warner Funeral Home.

Private family burial at a later date.
