Joan Marie Johnson, the daughter of John and Janice (Lanus) Young was born on November 26, 1965 in Fort Dodge, IA. Her childhood years were spent in Rolfe, IA, where she graduated from Rolfe High School in 1984. She then went on to get her degree from Spencer School of Business.
After a long courtship, Keith proposed and they married on September 30, 1995 at Hope Reformed Church. They were blessed with two amazing children Mackenzie and Weston. Joan was one proud mom and their biggest supporter.
Joan worked for Edward’s Optical before starting at Burns Chiropractic where she always went above and beyond for patients for 22 years.
Joan enjoyed crafting, scrapbooking, trips to Hobby Lobby with her sister, attending her kid’s activities, spending time with family and friends, visiting residents at Longhouse, and was known for “campaigning for mayor” as she was always seen talking with people wherever she went. She was a member of Hope Reformed Church, Kiwanis After 5, and Spencer Women of Today.
Joan passed away on Saturday, January 1, 2022 at Spencer Hospital at the age of 56. She was preceded in death by her mother, grandparents, an aunt, uncle, and her sweet dog Lucy.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband Keith of Spencer, IA; 2 children, Mackenzie of West Des Moines, IA and Weston (Alexis) of Spencer, IA; her father John of Spencer, IA; one sister, Julie Young of Erie, PA; one brother, Jerry (Kathy) Young of Kansas City, MO; father and mother-in-law, Terry and Peggy Johnson of Spencer, IA; nieces; nephews; other relatives; and many great friends.
