Joann J. Johanson

September 17, 1933 — October 27, 2010

Jemmeve JoAnn Johanson, the daughter of Lyle and Fairie (Hamilton) Kepford, was born September 17, 1933 in Fort Dodge, IA. She received her education in Spencer, graduating from Spencer High School in 1951. After graduation JoAnn married LaVern Johanson in Yuma, AZ on March 3, 1953. JoAnn worked at Northwestern Bell in Spencer as a telephone operator until moving to Colorado in 1984. She and her husband retired in 1995 and moved back to Iowa. JoAnn enjoyed reading, watching soaps, baking, antiquing, having conversation over coffee with friends and strangers alike, but her biggest enjoyment came from spending time with her family and grandkids. JoAnn passed away on Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at Cherokee Regional Medical Center in Cherokee, IA, at the age of 77. She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Jack Kepford. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, LaVern; three children, Missy Johanson of Peterson, IA, Mindy (Chuck) O'Brien of Aurora, CO, and Troy (Amanda) Johanson of Sutherland, IA; four grandchildren, Molly and Katie O'Brien of Aurora, CO and Cody and Melina Johanson of Sutherland, IA; a niece, Candi of Aurora, CO; a nephew, Brian of South Lake Tahoe, CA; a sister-in-law, Jane Kepford of Aurora, CO; other relatives, and many friends.
