Joanne Arthur

Joanne Darlene Arthur the daughter of Otto and Ruby (Swartz) Schaper, was born on September 16, 1931, in Estherville, Iowa, She was raised and received her early education there, graduating from Estherville High School. She married William Arthur on December 3, 1950, in Estherville. Following their marriage they lived in Spirit Lake, where Joanne worked at the telephone company. In 1968, they moved to the Royal area, and in 1970, they settled in Greenville where they owned and operated the Greenville Locker until retirement. She then worked part time at the Rossie Store until they closed. Joanne was a member of the Greenville Congregational Church where she was active in ladies fellowship. She enjoyed baking and having coffee with her friends, but most of all she loved her family. She passed away at the Spencer Hospital on Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at the age of 84. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2002; daughter, LeAnn in 2013, great-grandson, Kale Davis; and sister, Delores May. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Bob Arthur (Deb) of Mason City, IA; three daughters: Linda Carroll (George) of St. Paul, MN, Lori Raska (Bill) of Victor, IA, and Lisa Knutson (Danny) of Greenville, IA; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Lois Lenox of Estherville, IA; her very special friend, LaVaune Rees of Greenville, IA; other relatives and friends.
