Jody Mowery

Jody J. Mowery, the daughter of Joseph & Patricia (Kabrick) Thompson, was born November 17, 1964 in Spencer, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in the Terril area, where she received her education, graduating from Terril High School in 1983. Throughout her high school days, Jody was very active in sports, qualifying for the State Track Meet in the hurdles and she was a member of the 1000 point scoring club in basketball. Jody married Greg Mowery and to this union three children were born: Erin, Tyler and Cody. They lived in Spencer, where she attended Iowa Lakes Community College in Estherville. In the early years of their time together, Jody and Greg moved to Colorado, where she worked as a nanny for a few years. Jody had worked as the Activities Director at St. Luke Lutheran Home since 1992, a job that she has thoroughly enjoyed and excelled at. She also enjoyed her time working part time at the Spencer Municipal Golf Course, where it seemed that she knew everyone. Jody was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer. Jody passed away at the Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, IA following a brave battle with cancer on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at the age of 46. Her mother, Patricia on August 27, 2004 and her maternal and paternal grandparents preceded her in death. Left to cherish her memory are her three children: Erin Mowery of Cedar Rapids, IA, Tyler Mowery of Waterloo, IA and Cody Mowery at home in Spencer; her father, Joseph Thompson of Spencer; one brother, Mark Thompson and his wife, Marie of Fostoria; one sister, Shelly Bauer of Spencer; one niece; two nephews; other relatives and many, many friends.
