John Victor Erickson, the son of George and Goldie Erickson, was born November 12, 1929 in Lincoln, Nebraska. His childhood years were spent in Cornell, where he received his education, graduating with a class of 4 students from Cornell High School.
On May 1, 1948, John was united in marriage to Norma Jean Taylor at the Webb United Methodist Church in Webb, Iowa. Following their marriage, John and Norma lived in several communities in Minnesota, before settling in Mankato in 1964, where John worked as a insurance representative for Pyramid Life for 15 years. In 1984, they moved to the Burnsville/Eagen area for several years, until his health forced him into early retirement in 1995. Since 1998, John has been a resident of Minnesota Valley Health Center in Le Sueur, Minnesota. He enjoyed traveling on many vacations all over the world. John and Norma Jean also enjoyed fishing, boating and entertain friends and family at their cabin on Round Lake near Brainerd, MN as well as spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
John passed away at the Minnesota Valley Health Care Center in Le Sueur, Minnesota on Monday, November 17, 2008 at the age of 79. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jean on February 15, 2006 and his daughter, Joan in 2007.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Janet Beal of Mankato, MN; five sons: Jerry Erickson of Minnesota, Jeff Erickson and Toni of Oakdale, MN, Jody and his wife, Rebecca Erickson of Winter Haven, FL, Joel and his wife, Kris Erickson of Mankato, MN and Jim and his wife, Leah of Mankato, MN; 28 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 A.M., Friday, November 21, 2008 at the Warner Chapel in Spencer.
