Jolene (Jody) Ruth (Meyer) Clark, the daughter of Donald and Ruth (Beatrice) Meyer, was born March 5, 1949, in Spencer, Iowa. She spent her early years growing up near Dickens, graduating in 1967 from South Clay High School in Gillett Grove.
Jody was married July 12, 1970, to Dale J. Clark and was a resident of Greenville for the past 37 years. Jody served as mayor of Greenville from 2000 until her death. She was active in the Greenville and surrounding communities and was a published poet and the unofficial Greenville historian.
On January 20, 2008, following a courageous battle with cancer, Jody passed away at St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer at the age of 58. She was preceded in death by two premature sons: John Dale and Matt William; parents, Donald and Ruth (Beatrice) Meyer; and one brother, Samuel J. Meyer.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Mark, and his father, Dale Clark and seven year soul mate, Roger Knudtson of Sioux Rapids. Jody is also survived by sisters: Donna (Bud) Bettencourt of Round Mountain, NV and Nancy (Larry) Leppert of Dickens, IA; brothers: Kendall (Rosamary) Meyer of Spencer, IA, Chuck (Sue) Meyer of Spencer, IA, Randy (Angie) Meyer of Johnston, IA and Donnie (Nancy) Meyer of Missouri; several nieces and nephews; and many close friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, January 23, 2008, at Grace Congregational Church in Greenville, Iowa.
