Joyce Dingman

Joyce Elaine Dingman, the daughter of Harold and Hattie (Sykes) Smith was born March 4, 1934 at home in rural Ruthven, IA. Her childhood years were spent in the Ruthven area where she attended school, graduating from Ruthven High School. Joyce married Lyle Dingman on October 17, 1952 in rural Milford, IA. They lived on military bases in Georgia, Louisiana, and Kansas, before moving to Spencer, IA in the 1950's. Joyce worked at Richies in the meat department, waitressed at Spencer Golf and Country Club, Old Home, and Perry Judds. Joyce enjoyed keeping house, gardening, baking, crossword puzzles, working with model collector tractors, vacationing in Arizona during the winter, and especially spending time with her family. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer. Joyce passed away on Monday, September 19, 2016 at Longhouse Residence in Spencer, IA at the age of 82. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and 2 sisters, Shirley Morris and Lois Mills. Left to cherish her memory are her 3 children, Dan (Cindy) Dingman of Missouri, Sheri (Gary) Grudowski of Conifer, CO, and Randy (Jackie) Dingman of Spencer, IA; 2 brothers, Roger (Sharon) Smith of Nebraska and Lloyd (Pat) Smith of Canada; other relatives; and many friends
