Judith Ann Anderson Mills was born December 12, 1941 in Storm Lake, IA to Edward Nathan Anderson and Eloise (Patee) Anderson. Her family attended the Elk Baptist Church, where she was baptized. She received her education at Highview School, until the school closed when she started attending Rembrandt School, where she graduated in 1960. While in school, she was involved in choir, cheerleading, played basketball and was a member of the Elk Antlers 4-H Club.
Judy married Jim Mills in 1964 at the Elk Baptist Church and moved to the Webb area. To this marriage, a son and daughter were born and they were the center of her life.
Judy was highly involved with the family farm, working ground and harvest. She began working at the Community State Bank in 1986, where she worked until 2008, when illness forced her "retirement" all the while, she continued to help her son with farming and watching grandchildren. Her sisters and brother remained a large part of her life and they remained very close with daily phone calls and frequent get togethers. Her grandchildren were a large focus in her life and she looked forward to overnight stays, visits, school events, parties and going to the fair to watch the kids show their livestock. No matter if they placed 1st or last, they were 1st place in her mind. Her church family were a great comfort to her in the past years.
In late 2008, she was given a diagnosis of metastatic melanoma and not given a good prognosis. Through this diagnosis, she showed great strength and hope by unselfishly participating in a clinical study in hopes that someone else may benefit from information gained by her part in the study. During this she remained positive and hopeful.
She passed away on May 4, 2010 at the age of 68, peacefully in her own home with her family by her side. She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Jane Radke.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, James (Nancy) Mills and their daughters: Katie, Molly and Jessica all of Webb, IA; her daughter, Julie (Chad) Remmers and their sons: Logan and Dayton of Melvin, IA; her sisters: Jone (Bob) Meredith of Webster City, IA, Jene (Rich) Robinson of Storm Lake, IA, Jill (Don) Ryherd of Madison, Missouri and her brother, Edward "Skoog" (Barb) Anderson of Storm Lake, IA; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and countless friends.
