Judith 'Judy' Mae Lewis was born to Earl and Helen (Edgecomb) Liester March 4, 1943 in Heron Lake, MN. Judy spent her childhood years in West Salem, WI until her family moved to Ruthven, IA at the age of 10. Growing up she detasseled and worked as a fry girl at the A&W in Emmetsburg and was a Majorette at Ruthven High School where she graduated from in 1961.
On May 29, 1961 Judy and Robert Lewis married in Cherokee, IA. They began their life together in Spencer, where Judy was a homemaker as well as working at Tom Thumb Preschool, and as a cook at the Sacred Heart School later moving to Spencer High School as a cook and then a Teacher's Aid before retiring in 2004. Judy enjoyed spending time passing on her love for arts and crafts, woodworking, sewing, quilting, knitting and crocheting skills to her children, grandchildren, and many friends. She also enjoyed reading, playing cards and games, camping, fishing, traveling, and anything involving spending time with her family.
Judy passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2016 at the age of 73 surrounded by her loved ones. Just two weeks after Judy and Bob's 55th wedding anniversary. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Robert 'Bob' of Spencer, IA; 4 children: Julie (Larry) Lange of Greenville, IA, Dan (Nikki) Lewis of Iowa Falls, IA, Monica (Al) Albano of Gilbert, AZ and Brad (Patti) Lewis of Norfolk, NE; 11 grandchildren: Justin (Nicki), Jenn, Brittany (Jason), Nick, Brooke (Cody), Tyler, Aubree, Zach, Ashley, Josie and Brandon; 4 great grandchildren: Paxton, Haleigh Mae, Nora, and Brody; Daughter-in-law, Colleen Lewis of Spencer, IA; one brother, Vern Liester of Emmetsburg, IA; one sister, Carol Liester, of Fort Collins, CO; nieces and nephews and many friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services wil take place 2:00 P.M., Thursday, June 16, at the Warner Chapel in Spencer.
