Judy Ann Frerichs

Judy Ann Lorenz Frerichs, 72, of Lost Island Lake, Iowa died at 3:57 AM, Tuesday, July 8, 2014. She passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loved ones. Judy was born July 23, 1941 in Spencer, Iowa to George and Lillian (Voogd) Lorenz and spent her happy childhood on a farm west of Dickens, Iowa enjoying the country life with her sisters Jeanie, Georgia and Sally. She married the love of her life, Darrell Frerichs, in a simple ceremony in Sioux Falls. They lived south of Spencer raising their three daughters, Pamela, Carol and Susan. Summers were spent fishing and camping and winters meant snowmobiling and staying in playing cards. Judy and Darrell moved to Lost Island Lake in 1987 where they both enjoyed life at the lake. Judy ran their bait shop for over 10 years swapping fishing stories and serving all the local fisherman. She kept busy sewing and doing crafts with her daughter, Pam. She could be found working in her garden and flowers. She spent many years tracing her family history. No antique shop or garage sale was missed if Judy drove by. Judy's happiness in life was being surrounded by her family. Her husband loved her dearly, her daughters adored her and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her biggest blessings. She happily spent many hours in the bleachers attending and cheering on her grandchildren at every one of their sporting events. Surviving Judy is her husband, Darrell and her three daughters, Pam (Steve) Lawson, Carol Cacek, and Sue (Bruce) Loring. Judy has five grandchildren: Matthew (Allison) Cacek, Christopher Cacek, Jennifer Cacek, Elizabeth Loring, and Zachary Loring. Matt and Allison blessed our family with Judy's three great grandchildren: Addi, Aubry and Avery Cacek. Also surviving are Judy's sisters: Jeanie Berends and Sally (Pete) Jepsen; great aunt, Ruth Hansen and many other loved cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. Her parents: George and Lilly Lorenz; sister, Georgia Mohr and brother-in-law, Archie Berends all preceded her in death. In honor of Judy's memory the family is asking in lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Abben Cancer Center Spencer Hospital Hospice.
