Judy Lee Spence, the daughter of Jerry and Mabel (Long) Strohman, was born September 11, 1948, in Emmetsburg, IA. Her childhood years were spent in Ayrshire and Emmetsburg, where she received her early education. After her mother's death, she moved to her brother's home in Fenton, IA, where she finished her education, graduating from Fenton High School in 1967.
Judy married William Spence on March 14, 1969, in Lamoni, IA. Following their marriage, they lived in Emmetsburg, IA, where they began raising their family. In 1986, they moved to Spencer, IA, where she enjoyed working in the printing business, mostly at Heartland Press for many years until her retirement for health reasons. Judy was a hard worker and enjoyed her family along with camping, gardening and fishing. She was a very loving mother and wife.
Judy passed away at her home in Spencer, IA, on Wednesday, January 27, 2010, at the age of 61. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Russell on August 31, 2001; and eight brothers and sisters.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Bill of Spencer; her daughter, Rhonda and husband, Mark Vreeman of Spencer, along with three grandchildren: Colton, Ashley & Brady, which she especially cherished; several other relatives and friends, including her aunt, Violet Roberts who was like a mother to her and a very special influence on her life.
SERVICES
Funeral Services will be held 1:30 P.M., Monday, February 1, 2010 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Spencer.
