Julie Moriarty

November 3, 1962 — July 20, 2010

Julie Ann Moriarty, the daughter of George and the late Mary (Pritchard) Moriarty, was born November 3, 1962 in Sheldon, IA. She attended school in Spencer, IA, graduating in 1981. Not long after graduation, Julie married Gaylen Sindt on August 22, 1981, in Royal, IA. Julie and Gaylen had two daughters, Jennifer and RoseMary. They later divorced. While still in Iowa, Julie attended classes at Iowa Lakes Community College and worked at Arnold Motor Supply in Spencer. She was very active in her AA chapter, and made many lifelong friends, including Greg Gruber, who she married on April 4, 1992. Greg, Julie, Jenni and Rose then moved to Slayton, MN where they owned and operated a campground and bowling alley. Greg and Julie later divorced. Julie then worked as a cashier at a gas station in Slayton, where she spread many smiles and met her good friend Terri Swanson. After becoming increasingly ill, Julie spent most of her time at home in Slayton, MN, and in Minneapolis, MN. She occupied her creative and curious mind by reading, sewing, crocheting, writing and watching movies. She also greatly enjoyed cooking, baking, and music. Her most precious times were spent with her two daughters, among those times; the most cherished were spent vacationing on the coast of North Carolina. Julie passed away on Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at her home in Slayton, at the age of 47. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary. Left to treasure her memory are her two daughters; Jennifer Sindt of Davidson, NC and RoseMary Sindt of Minneapolis, MN, her father George and his wife Janet Moriarty of Spencer, IA, her grandmother Maxine (Corson) Moriarty of Rockwell City, IA, four sisters, Jackie and husband Bill Decker of Peterson, IA, Joni and husband Kevin Roslansky of Lake Park, IA, Kellie and husband Jim Jones of Lake Park, IA, Angie and husband Jeff Sherman of Moville, IA, a brother Ron and wife Annie Moriarty of Spencer, IA, many nieces and nephews, as well as an abundance of other friends and family.
