June Charmeen Richardson, the daughter of Morris and Grace (Davis) Wiley, was born on March 20, 1925, in Laurens, Iowa. She was baptized at the First Christian Church in Laurens. June attended kindergarten in Fort Dodge, Iowa, and finished her remaining early education in Laurens and graduated in 1942.
On April 11, 1943, June married the love of her life, Harold Richardson in South Sioux City, Nebraska. Following their marriage, they farmed north of Laurens for five years and then moved west of Pocahontas where they lived for 20 years. They also farmed in Humboldt, Goldfield, Renwick, south of Spencer, Storm Lake and returned to Spencer when they retired. After the death of her husband, Harold in 1997, she remained in Spencer.
June worked may places after her children were in school. There were retail stores, she was a Certified Nurse Aide and later worked at Northwest Aging Association where she received many awards including a trip to New York City and Washington D.C. She was a member of the Church of Christ, Eastern Star, and in the early years a member of many neighborhood “clubs.” She loved to read, play cribbage and sit at the computer-mostly just being with her friends.
She passed away on Thursday, September 9, 2021, at the Spencer Hospital at the age of 96. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; infant twin daughters, Margaret and Marilyn; daughter, Marlene Casey and two sons, David and Leslie Richardson.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons: Brian of New Palestine, IN, Neil of Fonda, IA, and Steven (Gene) of Kansas City, MO; two daughters: Nancy Heckathorn of Denver, CO, and Marjorie Harris of Thornton, IA; 31 grandchildren; 75 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Don Casey of AZ; sister-in-law, Edna Richardson of Atlantic, IA; other relatives and many friends.
