June Elizabeth Goettsche

June 24, 1922 — June 14, 2010

June was born in Spencer to Leslie and Helen Popanz Johnson on June 24, 1922. June graduated from Spencer High school 1940. June was baptized at St. Paul's Lutheran church, Fort Dodge, Iowa in 1952 and is a member of First English Lutheran Church of Spencer. June was married to and later divorced Hans Goettsche. They farmed in the Royal area. June worked at Binkard's Grocery at Royal, was a 4-H leader, CNA at Northshire, clerk at JC Penney in CA, and an in-home aide in CA for 15 years. She enjoyed ballroom dancing, and bowling on a church league. She was the partner of the Arthur Murray Ballroom dancing instructor. While working in CA she had a stroke and returned to Spencer in 1998, residing at Riverview Terrace Assisted Living until going to Hartley Health Center in 2009. She enjoyed her family, playing cards and music. June was narrator and member of the "Hands of Harmony" bell choir. They traveled in a 50-mile area and always had a great time. June is survived by her three daughters, Sharon McKeever of Spencer, JoAnne Goettsche of Richmond, CA, and Candice and Mark Galbraith of Storm Lake. June is survived by grandchildren: Mitch and Laura McKeever, Nate and Megan of Sac City; Dr. Tom and Pam McKeever, Tyler, Alexis and Courtney of Mukwonago, WI; Doyle and Tammy McKeever, Kade and Konnor of Spencer; Craig Galbraith, Cole, Chase and Reed of Ham Lake, MN; Kelly and Chantalle Galbraith, Jordan, Spencer, Grace, and Greta of Omaha, NE; Christine and Randy Saunders, Kaitlyn and Derek of Littleton, Co.; Andrea and Jay Wange, Mackenzie and Teegan of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She is survived by siblings: Charlotte (Shy) Pearson of Hartley; Lucille Siino and Audrey Costanza both of Pittsburg, CA; Mary Helen (John) of Hemet CA; Phyllis Bates, Robert Johnson, and Marilyn Zellaha of Spencer; Gary Johnson of North Glen, Co.; James (Deb) Johnson of Brady, Texas; daughter -in-law, Kelly Goettsche of Windsor, CO and sister-in-law, Beverly Johnson of Spencer. She died June 14, 2010 at the Hartley Community Memorial Health Center. June was preceded in death by her parents: Les and Helen Johnson; son, Billy Goettsche, brothers Marvin and Furman Johnson, sisters Shirley and Judy; son-in-law Larry McKeever, great grandson Kolby McKeever.

SERVICES

Memorial Services will be held at 10:30a.m., Monday, June 21, 2010, at the First English Lutheran Church in Spencer.
