June M. Thiesen Campbell, the daughter of Carl and Clara (Petersen) Wilson, was born June 26, 1928 in Gilmore City, IA. Her childhood years were spent in Ayrshire, Iowa, where she received her education, graduating from Silver Lake Consolidated. After high school, she attended Iowa State Teacher's College in Cedar Falls, Iowa for two years.
June married Louis C. Thiesen on October 2, 1949 in Royal, Iowa. During the first two years of her marriage, she taught school at Hartley (3rd Grade) and Royal (Kindergarten). They farmed near Royal for many years, while she raised their family. She was an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Royal. Louis passed away on October 23, 1980.
She married Knox Campbell on August 20, 1982 in Royal, IA. After their marriage, they moved to Spencer, Iowa. June enjoyed church activities, golfing, bowling, walking, hiking, traveling, playing cards, taking snapshots and keeping photo albums, spending winters in Arizona and most of all spending time with her family.
June passed away at Longhouse Residence in Spencer, Iowa on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at the age of 88. She was preceded in death by her parents; her 1st husband, Louis; one grandchild, Kirk and one brother, Leonard Wilson.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Knox Campbell of Spencer; her four children: Kent and Sandy Thiesen of Spencer, Barbara and John Dalhoff of Ames, IA, Douglas and Dawn Thiesen of Albuquerque, NM and Richard Thiesen of Spencer; 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; 8 step great grandchildren; a sister, Louise (Harold) Gross of Spencer; a stepdaughter, Leslie (Larry) Campbell Westbrook of Whitesboro, TX; a stepson, Casey (Nancy) Campbell of Des Moines, IA; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, October 24, 2016 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Royal.
