(Mona) June Myers, the daughter of Carl Andrew and Audrey Juliel (Griffin) Holmberg, was born July 3, 1932 on a farm north of Dickens. She received her early education at a country school near Dickens. Her family later moved to a farm south of Rossie, where she continued her education, graduating from Greenville-Rossie Consolidated School in 1950 as Salutatorian.
June married her high school sweetheart, Milo Wayne Myers on August 13, 1950, at the First Congregational Church in Spencer. From 1950 to 1969, they were engaged in farming in the Rossie, Linn Grove, Milford, Everly, Hartley and Terril communities. In 1969, they chose to leave the farm life and moved to Terril, then Ruthven, before moving to Spencer in 1977 for the remainder of their life.
June was an Avon representative from 1974 until 2009, where she accomplished the goal of being in President's Club for several years. In 1988, she worked in the housekeeping department at the Spencer Hospital until her retirement in 1997. June's pride and joy was her family and she loved nothing more than being with them. Seeing her grandchilren and also great-grandchildren always brought a huge smile to her face. She also enjoyed playing pinochle or dice at family functions. She shared her love for music by playing the piano while her daughters sang along. Many of her evenings were spent watching her favorite TV shows or a Twins baseball game; but if there was an Elvis Presley movie on, that took top priority! In March of 2015, June moved to Northshire Care Center in Spencer where she made many dear friends. Channel 15 was always on the TV to watch Matlock or a good cowboy movie. Monday was bingo day with her daughters and she enjoyed the many other activities as well.
June passed away at the Spencer Hospital on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at the age of 85. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Milo in 2007 and one brother, Dean Holmberg.
She is survived by three daughters: Nancy (Rick) Dean of Spencer, Mona (Larry) Smith of Milford and Carolyn (Doug) Alger of Spencer; grandchildren: Melissa (Alan) Girard, Kellie Lowe, Michael (Heather) Dean, Marcia (Shawn) Bibler, Scott (Erin) Smith, and Kyle Smith; great-grandchildren: Chris (Tiffany) Girard, Kaleb Stover, Cheyenne Girard, Kevin Stover, Matayah Lowe, Kendra Lowe, Ethan Dean, Baby Girl Dean, Kaylyn Bibler, Aliviah Bibler, Ryker Bibler, Aiden Smith, Delaney Smith; great great-grandchildren: Aniah Myers, Adaliah Girard, Zaevian Girard.
