Karen Elaine Quist

Karen Elaine Quist, the daughter of John P. and Josephine Maurer Stouffer, was born February 27, 1942 in Spencer, Iowa. Her early education was received in Spencer and graduated in 1960 from the Spencer High School. Karen married Marvin Blaine Quist on June 21, 1960, in Glenwood, MN. They lived in Brooten, MN until moving to Spencer in 1966. In 1972, they moved to Gillett Grove, Iowa where she worked as a janitor for Gillett Grove Schools for 3 years. Karen then worked at several nursing homes for 25 years as a nurse aide and CNA. Karen enjoyed roller skating, playing the piano and attending Church. Her greatest love was her family and she received great enjoyment watching and caring for her grandchildren. On October 12, 2013, Karen passed away at Beehive Homes in Spencer at the age of 71. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Timothy and three brothers: David (Butch), Douglas and Dennis. Karen is survived by her children: Susan (David) Glienke of Greenville, IA, Brian Quist of Sutherland, IA and Kelli (David) Hunter of Belgrade, MN; 8 grandchildren: Kristie Nielsen, Blaine Glienke, Cheyenne Lax, Cord Stullen, Brianna Heckes, Destiny Heckes, Marissa Heckes and Caden Hunter; 5 great grandchildren: Justina, Aleah, Carson, Matthew and Millie; one brother, Duane "Dewey" (Kate) Stouffer and one sister, Kathy (Randall) Anderson; other relatives and friends.
