Karen Glee Myers

Karen Glee Myers, the daughter of Harvey and Evelyn McDonald Eldridge, was born May 4, 1938 on a farm near Graettinger. She received her early education and graduated from the Graettinger High School. On August 24, 1957, Karen married William Myers. She lived and farmed her entire life in the Gillett Grove area with her husband for 56 years. Karen continued her education at Iowa Lakes Community College where she earned a Nursing Degree. Karen's pride and joy was her family getting together and receiving calls from them. Her hobbies included her garden, canning, reading books, drinking green tea, keeping a diary, taking pictures of her family, water aerobics, Church and hugging her grandchildren at every opportunity. Karen was an active member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ayrshire. Karen passed away on December 4, 2013 at Spencer Hospital at the age of 75. She is preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Mary Myers. She is survived by her husband, William Myers of Dickens; her children: Kathy Myers of Des Moines, IA, Dianne (Brent) Bordewick of Portland, OR, Sherry Myers of Mason City, IA, Billy Myers of Ayrshire, IA and Anthony Myers of Ames, IA; her grandchildren: Adam, Joshua and James (Tasha) Hanisch, Taylor, T.J. and Breanna Young, Veronic (Grant) Engler, Will, Micah, Mitchell Myers, Tabbatha (Rob) Winkler, Cody (Sue) Myers, Ethan (Sarah) Myers and Shayla Bielefeld; 6 great grandchildren; 4 brothers: Lanny Eldridge, Loren Eldridge, Jerry Eldridge and Alan (Janice) Eldridge; other relatives and friends.
