Katherine Jo Collins, the daughter of James and Marilyn (Lough) Trunnell, was born on January 10, 1949, in Estherville, IA. She was raised in the northwest Iowa area graduating from Milford High School. After high school she attended Morningside College and then later attended ILCC, where she received a degree in Paralegal and a minor in Criminal Justice.
Katherine met her husband, David at Morningside College and they were married on June 22, 1973 in Sioux City, Iowa. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Spirit Lake,in Everly for 20 years before settling in Spencer in 2009. Katherine had taught courses at ILCC, Buena Vista University and Northwestern College. She worked for Judge Barlow and also was a senior advocate at Northwest Iowa Aging for 17 years. She was a member of the St. Louis Catholic in Royal, where she also taught Sunday School. She was an avid reader and was very involved in gardening and was in the Master Gardeners Club.
Katherine passed away on June 7, 2012, at the Longhouse Residence in Spencer at the age of 63. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Kenneth.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, David of Spencer, IA; her daughter, Kerith Elizabeth Jerusha-Collins and her friend, Garret Ollsen of Minneapolis, MN; her son, Ryan Collins of Bozeman, MT; her grandchildren: Kincade, Corrine, Liam and Connor all of Minneapolis, MN; other relatives and friends.
