Kendall Lee Meyer, the son of Donald and Ruth "Beatrice" Johnson Meyer, was born July 18, 1940, in Spencer, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in Gillett Grove, Iowa.
He graduated from High School in Orange County California. He then joined the United States Navy and served for four years where he completed his training as a Communications Technician, class "A'. Upon his return to Iowa he then completed and earned his degree of Practitioner of Barber Science in 1962. He later achieved his Associate of Arts degree from Iowa Lakes Community College.
On November 19, 1961, Kendall married Rosamary Jane Sassman. Following their marriage they lived in Iowa, Wisconsin and Minnesota before settling in Spencer, Iowa.
He was a member of First English Lutheran Church in Spencer. Kendall was a barber in Fenton, Spencer and Ayrshire, Iowa. He then was the sales manager for Sears and Roebuck in Rice Lake, WI, Northland Mobile Homes in Mankato, MN and Freeburg Mobile Homes before settling at Eaton Corporation where he worked for 30 years.
Kendall passed away Sunday, December 28, 2008, at his home in Spencer at the age of 68. He was preceded in death by his parents Dondald and Bea Meyer, his grandparents Sam and Tillie Meyer and Emil and Ruth Johnson; one brother, Samuel J. Meyer and one sister, Jolene (Jody) Ruth Clark.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Rosamary, his son Kasen (Lisa) Meyer of Spencer; daughter, Kim (Dirk) Rittig of Lincoln, NE; sisters: Donna (Bud) Bettencourt of Fallon, NV, Nancy (Larry) Leppert of Dickens, IA; brothers: Chuck (Sue) Meyer of Spencer, Randy Meyer of Johnston, IA and Donald (Nancy) Meyer of Hawk Point, MO; 7 grandchildren: Cassie Markley, Tony Marshall, Kylee Meyer, Jeremiah Marshall, Kelsey Meyer, Nicole Rettig and Brett Rettig; 23 nieces and nephews; many other relatives and close friends.
SERVICES
Memorial Services will be at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at the First English Lutheran Church in Spencer.
Military Services will be conducted by the Glen Pedersen Post #1 of Spencer at the church.
