Kenneth Clarence Maurer, the son of Albert and Emma Gross Maurer, was born October 25, 1923 in Rossie, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in the Spencer, Iowa area, where he received his education, graduating from Spencer High School. Later, he attended a trade school. Ken entered the military and served during WWII with the U.S. Navy from 1941 until his honorable discharge in 1945. During his military career, he achieved the ranking of Quartermaster 2nd Class.
Ken married Alice Duncan on August 18, 1946. Following their marriage, he moved to Sutherland, Iowa, where he owned and operated Ken's Feed Store for over 40 years. He also owned Ken's Feed Store in Calumet. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Sutherland. Ken was an active member of Abiff Lodge #347 in Sutherland, where he was involved with the consistory, the shrine auxiliary, Ruritan Club and was a member of American Legion Post #152 in Sutherland. He married Lois (Proehl) Rohrbaugh in 2001.
Kenneth passed away at the Spencer Hospital on Tuesday, December 18, 2007 at the age of 84. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Alice in August of 1988; four sisters: Beatrice Ramhorst, Josephine Stouffer, Blanche Taylor and Marilyn Taylor and a brother, Everett.
He is survived by his wife, Lois of Sutherland; his children: Ronald and his wife, Nancy Maurer of Cherokee, IA, Cindy and her husband, Doug Lundquist of Paullina, IA, Greg and his wife, Deana Maurer of Webb City, MO, Gail and his wife, Sherry Maurer of Sutherland, IA and Brad and his wife, Deb Maurer of Sutherland, IA; 18 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; three sisters: Frances Hepworth of Royal, IA, Arlene Heine of Spirit Lake, IA and Beverly Slipke of Milford, IA; other relatives and many friends.
SERVICES
Services will be held 2:00p.m., Friday December 21, 2007 at the Church of Christ in Sutherland.
Masonic Services will be held 7:00 P.M., Thursday, December 20, 2007 at the Warner Funeral Home in Sutherland.

VISITATION
Visitation will begin after 2:00p.m., Thursday with the family present from 7:00 - 8:30p.m., Thursday evening at the funeral home. There will be Masonic service conducted by the Abiff Lodge #347 of Sutherland at 7:00p.m., Thursday evening at the funeral home.
