Kenneth Clarence Steffens, the son of Clarence and Emma Steuck Steffens, was born May 23, 1925, on the family farm in Center Township of O'Brien County, rural Primghar, Iowa. He was baptized in the rural Lutheran Church near his birthplace, which the Church was later moved into Primghar, where he was later confirmed. He received his education in rural schools in O'Brien County. After his schooling he went into farming for Harry Thiessen in rural Sutherland. Kenneth was called into the Army where he served his country being honorably discharged in 1952. He was still active in farming, and did some hunting and fishing.
After a fight with cancer he entered the Sutherland Care Center on January 31, 2009, where he passed away on February 12, 2009 at the age of 83. He was a member of the Sutherland American Legion and the Sutherland Ruritan Club. He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Alvin and a sister, Leona.
Kenneth leaves to cherish his memory, four sisters: Louise Vogt (Oliver) of Spencer, IA, Arlene Sampson of Hartley, IA, Velma Williams and Shirley Schelick both of Waterloo, IA; one brother, LeRoy Steffens of Hartley, IA; one sister-in-law, Sally Steffens of Cleghorn, IA; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 A.M., Monday, February 16, 2009 at the United Methodist Church in Sutherland.
Military services will be conducted by American Legion Post #152 of Sutherland, Iowa following the graveside service.

Visitation will begin 2:00 P.M., Sunday, February 15th with the family present from 2 to 4:00 P.M., Sunday Evening at the Warner Funeral Home in Sutherland.
