Kenneth Edward Selzer, 88, died at the Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, Nebraska on February 28, 2019. Ken was born on June 4, 1930 in Clay County, Iowa. Ken was raised in the Peterson and Spencer, Iowa area by his mother Irma Viola (Blackmer) and father George Conrad Selzer. Ken graduated from Spencer High School.
Ken met Lois Schoenewe while she worked as a waitress at Robert’s Café in Everly, Iowa. Ken and Lois were married on January 28, 1950 in Tama, Iowa. They lived their early married years near Everly and eventually built their first home just outside Spencer. Ken worked at Spencer beef packing plant moving to various locations as the company grew. He later joined Monfort Packing in Greeley, Colorado and Ken and Lois settled in Greeley and Windsor, Colorado.
Ken is preceded in death by his wife Lois, his parents George and Irma, his sisters: Margaret Hanson, Barbara Willms, Donna Pena, his brothers: George (Bud) Selzer, Carl Selzer and Ralph Selzer.
Left to cherish his memory are his children: son, Kenneth James (Jim) Selzer of Hilo, Hawaii; daughter, Judy Aikin and her husband Terry of Naples, Florida; and son, Jerry Selzer and his wife Jacqueline of Scottsbluff, Nebraska; his two grandchildren: Maddy and Katie Selzer of Windsor, Colorado: other relatives and friends.
Ken loved the outdoor adventures that Colorado offered but he was never happier than when he was on a neighborhood walk with his dog.
