Kenneth Wayne Emmert

    Kenneth Wayne Emmert was born on March 23^rd, 1939 in Hartley, Iowa.  His parents were Orville & Charlotte (Jipson) Emmert.  He grew up with three siblings on a farm near Royal, Iowa.  Ken went to school in Royal and played basketball in high school while assisting his father on their farm.

     Following high school, he went to DeVry Technical School in Chicago.   January 10^th, 1959, he married the love of his life Sharon (Schuck) Emmert.  They started their family on a farm near Moneta, Iowa, later raising their three children in Royal, Iowa.

     Ken drove a fuel truck for Standard oil before starting his true passion of farming in 1974 until he retired.  He was active in his community, serving on the Bethlehem Lutheran Church Council, Royal City Council, Clay Township Board and a volunteer at the fire department.   His hobbies included:  dancing socials with Shari, snowmobiling with friends, camping adventures, playing cards, bowling teams and being on his 4-wheeler checking his crops.

     Ken passed away at Accura of Milford Nursing Home in Milford, IA the morning of May 28^th, 2024 at the age of 85.

     Ken is survived by his wife of 65 years, Shari of Spencer; two daughters and one son:  Barbara and her husband, Randy Fletcher of Royal; Julie and her husband, Todd Gerstandt of Des Moines; Steven Emmert of Washington D.C.; three grandchildren: Kyle Fletcher and his wife, Allie (McCarty); Carly (Fletcher) Hermstad and husband, Greg; Caitlyn Fletcher and fiancé, Lucas Carstensen; and four great grandchildren:  Hallie Fletcher, Hannah & Hunter Hermstad, Lauryn Fletcher, as well as cousins, numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends who will miss his stories and kindness.
