Kenneth Roy Jones

Kenneth Roy Jones, the son of James Marion and Esther (McCain) Jones, was born May 2, 1951 in Spirit Lake, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in Spirit Lake where he received his early education until continuing his education at Gillett Grove, Iowa. During his early years of his adulthood, he worked at several places around Spirit Lake. He moved to Spencer, Iowa, in 1978, where he worked at Janitor's Closet. For the last 14 years, he was employed in the Sanitation Department for the City of Spencer. In his spare time, Ken enjoyed fishing on the trestle, hunting, watching movies, playing cards and most of all spending time with his nieces and nephews and other family. Kenneth passed away unexpectedly at his home in Spencer on Monday, April 11, 2016, at the age of 64. He was preceded in death by his mother, Esther Wells; father, James Marion Jones; stepfather, Nile Wells and sister-in-law, Carolyn Jones. He was survived by his brother, Larry Jones of Spencer, IA; two sisters: Barbara Shatto of Sioux City, IA, and Dorothy Burger and her husband, Harley of Gillett Grove, IA; his nieces and nephews who he was like a father to: Greg (Tammy) Jones, Gary Jones, Keith (Tammy) Cook, Jim (Kelly) Jones, Jody (Anessa) Stinehart, Jim Stinehart, Chad (Laura) Herzenach, Sirena (Scott) Richardson and Tara Mixon; several great-nieces, great-nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
