Kevin Lawrence Cook, the son of Lorn and Darlene (Roemeling) Cook, was born March 1, 1957 in Worthington, MN. He attended grade school in Spencer and his high school years in Adrian, MN, graduating from Adrian High School in 1975.
While living in Adrian, Kevin helped Virgil and Alice Cook farm and milk cows. He also worked for Steve and Lane Bullerman on the farm. Kevin later went to work for Van Wyk Trucking in Sheldon as an over the road truck driver. His love for the farm brought him back to work for his current employer, Tim Erpelding. His love of farming was evident every day on the farm.
Kevin married Denise Harberts-Nemmers on October 6, 2007 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer. Kevin & Denise truly found the love of their lives in each other. Kevin was also an avid Minnesota Vikings, Twins & Gopher fan. He loved all of their grandchildren and enjoyed spending as much time with them as he could. He enjoyed playing cards with his family and was known to occasionally bend the rules. Kevin & Denise looked forward to and enjoyed their trips to Mexico. They enjoyed meeting friends from all over the country. Mexico was Kevin’s “Happy Place.” He was a member of the Knight of Columbus for many years.
Kevin was diagnosed with Leukemia on August 28, 2020. He passed away peacefully at Unity Point Hospital in Sioux City after his courageous battle with leukemia. He was preceded in death by his parents: Lorn & Darlene Cook; his special uncle, Virgil Cook and other aunts and uncles along with his maternal & paternal grandparents.
Left to continue to share his stories are his wife, Denise of Everly; his daughter, Chantel (Austin) Scarset of Luverne, MN; sons: Matt Nemmers of Sioux Falls, SD, Ryan (Brandon Hansen) Nemmers of Everly, IA; five grandchildren: Axel, Estelle & Ivy Scarset, Skylar Nemmers and Mazie Appeldorn; three brothers: Kenny Cook of Milford, Keith (Tammy) Cook of Spencer and Kelly Cook of Spencer; his mother & father-in-law, Daryl & Joyce Harberts of Rushmore, MN; brother-in-laws: Kevin(Traci) Harberts of Adrian, MN, Gregg (Amy) Harberts of Rushmore, MN; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
