Kyle Douglas Lachner

In Lieu of flowers, a memorial has been set up in Kyle's name. Kyle Douglas Lachner, the son of Curt and Michelle (Otkin) Lachner, was born December 8, 1997, in Spencer, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in Spencer and he had completed his freshman year of high school in both Spencer and at Lincoln East, Lincoln, Nebraska. He was baptized and confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church. Kyle was a boy full of charisma. He was able to make friends wherever he went and always had a smile on his face. He loved his friends and family and had a gift for making us all feel good. Kyle was passionate about his sports. He participated in football, basketball, baseball and track. He spent many years playing on the travel baseball and basketball teams. Kyle could often be seen riding around town on his yellow moped. He enjoyed fishing, hanging out with his friends and family, playing Xbox and listening to music. He enlightened us with his random thoughts, his wit and sense of humor. Kyle passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2013, at the age of 15. He was proceeded in death by his grandfathers, Wayne Otkin and Douglas Lachner. Kyle is survived by his mother, Michelle of Spencer; his father, Curt of Lincoln, NE; his sisters, Haley & Emery of Lincoln, NE; special friends Dan Chapman of Spencer, Jennifer Lachner of Lincoln, NE; Anthony Marshall of Lincoln, NE; grandmother, Joyce Otkin of Fulda, MN ; grandparents, Dick & Sharon Burgeson of Milford; uncles: Greg Otkin, Pierre, SD, Trevor Otkin, Spirit Lake, IA; Chris Lachner, Spencer, IA; aunts: Nicole (Rick) McKinney, Sioux Falls, SD, and Jess Otkin, Sioux Falls, SD; cousins: Ryan Otkin and Alex & Jack McKinney; several other relatives and many, many friends in Iowa, Nebraska and Minnesota.
