Lance Micheal Vergith, the son of Linda Johnson and Laird Vergith, was born on July 9, 1971 in Goldsboro, NC. He was raised in Broomfield, CO through early childhood years, later moving to Spencer, IA when he was 6 years old. He attended Spencer Schools, graduating from Spencer High School in 1989.
Lance first met his high school sweetheart, Stacie Peterson on September 18, 1986 at age 15. They remained a loving couple, married on November 20, 1992. Following their marriage, they continued to live in Spencer. Lance was employed by Tecton Industries for nearly 10 years, and then he began working for NW Iowa Glass Company for the next 6 years. He then chose his career in healthcare, entering the nursing program at Iowa Lakes Community College in 2006, graduating in 2009 with an Associate Degree of Applied Science in nursing. He began employment with the Pride Group in Primghar, Iowa in June of 2009. Throughout his time spent there, he gained dear friendships and bonds with each of the clients he truly cared for. Lance was assistant director of nursing to his wife, Stacie. Together they enjoyed working as a team, seeing that those dear clients were well-cared for. He remained employed there up until his death.
Lance had a strong passion for playing the drums. He loved music. He was always tapping his toes and fingers to the beat of music. He was a very active person and loved the outdoors. Most importantly, he absolutely adored each and every one of his children. He had a forever sparkle in his eye each time he was around his children.
Lance passed away suddenly at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD on Saturday January 14, 2012 at age 40 as a result of injuries sustained in an accident. He was on his way to care for 'his' clients when the accident occurred. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lowell and Verna Mae Vergith, Royal Johnson, his great grandparents from Naples, Italy; Aunt Linda Rickers and his grandmothers by marriage, Beulah Shields and Josephine Skalla and his beloved Doberman of 14 years, Layzer.
