Larry Eugene Laursen

Larry Eugene Laursen, 88, a beloved father and husband, passed peacefully Saturday, July 20, 2024 with his loving wife of 70 years by his side and surrounded by their children. 

Larry, of proud Danish heritage was born the second youngest of nine children to Gerda and Marius Laursen in Brooke, IA. Larry and his wife were farmers for over 70 years, and they raised five children. Larry and Barb moved to Milford, IA in 1966 where they farmed. Larry was an amazing steward of this land. He loved his farm, raising cattle and enjoyed growing crops, Larry was also an avid gardener and in his garden and orchard, he loved to grow sweet corn, tomatoes, squash, apples, plums, and always trying a new variety. Every spring a light shown in him as growing season approached.

He met his wife, Barb Laursen, in 1952 at Royal High School where they both attended school. They married on April 17, 1954 and had five children, nine grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Larry and his wife were amazing partners and soul mates in the family farming life.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Laursen, their children Marilyn Lago, Becky McLaughlin, Mark Laursen, Belinda Strobel, Lisa Jamieson and nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters Rheta Dean of Peterson, IA and Lin Laursen of Arizona City, AZ.

A private family celebration of life filled with memories and experiences will be held.
