Larry Lynn Anderson, son of Osmund and Jeanette Patterson Anderson was born in Marathon, Iowa on September 30, 1937. He was baptized and confirmed at the United Methodist Church in Marathon of which he was a member for over 60 years. Larry attended public school in Marathon and graduated in 1955. He worked on the Milwaukee Railroad for 2 years before joining the Marines. He was stationed at Camp Pendleton in Oceanside, CA for 2 years. After he got out of the service, he worked at the Farmers Coop Elevator in Marathon. In 1961, he started Anderson Fertilizer Service which he had for 20 years. He also farmed at that time, but in 1980 he started farming full time until a farming accident in 1996. He and Sheryl moved to Spencer in 1997 so Larry could start dialysis. After three and a half years he received 2 new kidneys that worked perfect for 14 years, Larry had a lot of health issues, but never complained. Larry enjoyed going back to the farm, going out with friends and watching the Hawkeyes and other sports. He enjoyed his beautiful granddaughters and he always told everyone, 'they are as beautiful inside as they are on the outside.' He loved listening to gospel music, especially Gaither music. On December 6, 1959, Larry was united in marriage to Sheryl Lee Nation at the Grace Lutheran Church in Marathon. They were blessed to have 56 wonderful years together. They became the parents of two children, Sheri Lynne and Bradley Alan. He is survived by his wife, Sheryl; daughter, Sheri and husband, Jim Jorden of Burlington, VT; son, Brad and his wife, Candy of Marathon; 5 granddaughters: Chelsey Feauto and husband, Mark of Spencer, Ashley Gathman and husband, Brett of Spencer, Briana Anderson and boyfriend, Mak Kloewer of Spencer, Brandy Anderson and BrookLynn Anderson of Marathon; brother, Gaylon Anderson of Laurens; sister-in-law, Betty Anderson of Hubbard; many in-laws on Sheryl's side; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
