Laura Lee Bendlin

Laura Lee Cunningham, the daughter of Clifford And Wilma (Prall) Cunningham, was born on August 18, 1948, in Des Moines, Iowa. She attended school in Des Moines and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1966. She met Larry Bendlin in the summer of 1966 at the Roof Gardens. They were united in marriage on October 8, 1966, in Spencer, Iowa. Following their marriage, the couple made their home in Spencer. Laura was a devoted mother and wife. She worked at Helen's Laundry and then the Spencer Hospital. She was a volunteer for the Red Cross and the Cub Scouts as a den mother. She was a breast cancer survivor. Later in life she devoted her time to raising her two beautiful twin girls. Laura enjoyed playing cards, slot machines, old movies, doing word search and collecting antiques. She was a very artistic person and liked to paint and had a knack for arranging things. She also loved her two dogs: R.J and Sena. Laura passed over to the protection of the Lord on Friday, December 13, 2013, at the Spencer Hospital at the age of 65. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Connie Gorsline and three great nieces: Sarah Bendlin, Emma Lukes and Jessica Gorsline. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Lawrence of Spencer; her 3 sons: Donald, Shane and Benjamin all of Spencer; 2 daughters: Ashley and Haley Bendlin; her grandchildren: Tessa, Amber, Brent and Brea Bendlin; one great grandchild, Dax Ginger; her sisters: Marcia (Jerry) Waugh of Des Moines, IA and Jan (Ron) Lukes of Mason City, IA; brother in law, Steve Gorsline of New Virginia, IA; other relatives and many friends.
