Lauri Beth Odor was born July 16, 1949 in Des Moines, Iowa to Samson T. and Charlotte Rose Legvold. She grew up in Perry Iowa until her sophmore year of high school when the family then moved to Grundy Center for a year, before ending up in Oskaloosa, Iowa during the summer of 1965. After graduating from Oskaloosa High School in 1967, Lauri attended the University of Northern Iowa graduating in 1971 with a degree in English Education. After graduation, she moved back to Oskaloosa where she met and married Jon Odor on September 6, 1975. They are incredibly blessed with three amazing children; Josh (Chicago), Ryan(Iowa City) and Jessica (Cedar Falls).
In 1981, Jon and Lauri moved to Spencer, Iowa, where they have been ever since. Lauri worked as a legal assistant at the Hemphill Law Office for 21 years, has been an active member of the First Congregational Church where she was involved in choir and youth organizations, and has also been a member of Clef Club and Beta Sigma Phi. She will be remembered for her smile, laughter, and amazing singing voice. Lauri wanted it expressed that she feels she has been very blessed in life by her family, friends, and even the kindness of strangers.
Besides her husband and children, she is survived by five siblings; Lars (Vicki, Oskaloosa), Curt (Doris, Oskaloosa), Chuck (Bonnie, Aurora, Illinois), Sam (Denise,Winfield, Alabama), Leesha (Jake, McGee, Oskaloosa), many nieces and nephews, and her Aunt Velta (Darrell Lanham, Torrance, California).
Lauri is preceded in death by her father, mother, and great niece, Tori Legvold.
SERVICES
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at First Congregational Church in Spencer, Iowa.
