Laurie Beth Peters

   Laurie Beth Peters, of Spencer, Iowa, passed away in a motor vehicle accident on Saturday March 7^th, 2020 at the age of 59. Laurie was the daughter of Dorothy and Arnold Peters of Sutherland, Iowa. She attended school in Sutherland, graduating from Sutherland High School in 1980.

     Laurie went on to be a certified nurse assistant and then a medication aide, working at Millie’s Rest Home in Sutherland for several years. Laurie later moved to Spencer and worked at Sunshine, and Truck Haven until getting her last job at Walmart in 2002.  She started as a greeter then moved to apparel which she  enjoyed. She loved meeting people with a friendly smile and calling them by name.  Laurie never let a person she knew get past her without a big smile, hello and maybe even a hug.  She moved into Golfview Condominiums in 2011 and thoroughly enjoyed living there, making friends with the other residents. She would often tell her family how thankful she was for her condominium.  Laurie had an affinity for turquoise jewelry and would often be seen with a ring on every finger, bracelet on each wrist and a lovely turquoise necklace and earrings to match. When she wasn’t working at Walmart, Laurie could be found driving her scooter all around Spencer, shopping, or relaxing at her home listening to country music on her record player. She loved spending time with her family, especially over the holidays, staying up all night making her famous cherry cheesecake and peanut brittle. Laurie loved life and will forever be remembered by her joyful personality, her smile, laugh and good nature.

     Laurie is survived by her four nieces and nephews: Tony Peters of Primghar, IA: Tammy Muilenburg and her husband, Larry of Sutherland; Tracy Peters and his wife, Pam of Hutchinson, KS and Tonya Oolman and her husband, Aaron of Sutherland, IA; sister in law, Liz Peters of Sutherland, IA, nine great nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

     Laurie is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Bill Peters, and great niece Desiree Crist.
