Lavonne 'Bonnie' Biekert

LaVonne "Bonnie" Lee Biekert, the daughter of Lloyd and Edith (Thompson) Gates, was born March 29, 1934 in Worthington, MN. Her childhood years were spent in Worthington, where she received her education, graduating from Worthington High School in 1952. LaVonne married Eldon James Biekert on September 1, 1956 in Worthington, MN. Following their marriage, they moved to Everly, where they lived from 1956 to 1968. In 1968, they moved to Spencer, where she was employed as a bookkeeper by Montgomery Ward Dept. Store for several years. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Spencer. Lavonne enjoyed singing and did a lot of entertaining and also was involved in a quartet with her sisters that traveled all over the United States. She had her own TV show and also sang with the Barbershop. LaVonne passed away at the Hilltop Care Center in Spirit Lake, Iowa on Friday, May 18, 2012 at the age of 78. She was preceded in death by her mother and father Edith and Lloyd Gates; her husband, Eldon; one brother in infancy; a brother-in-law, Harold Glackin and a sister, Joyce Loud. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Janelle Johnson and her husband, Barry of Terril, IA; her son, Brent Biekert and his wife, Rhonda of Spencer, IA; 3 grandchildren: Mark, Brian and Jacob; two sisters: Joan Glackin of Schleswig, IA and Arlene Welch of Denison, IA; other relatives and many friends.
SERVICES
Memorial services will take place 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, May 23, at the Warner Chapel in Spencer.

Visitation will take place Tuesday, May 22, starting at 3:00 P.M., with the family present from 5-7:00 P.M., at Warner Funeral Home in Spencer.
