Lawrence "Bill" William Scott

Lawrence William “Bill” Scott, the son of John and Alta (Flinn) Scott, was born March 1, 1938, in Gilmore City, Iowa.  His childhood years were spent in the Lake Center area where he attended school.

     He married Barbara Mengelsen on September 30, 1957, in Jackson, Minnesota.  Following their marriage, they made their home in Spencer where he worked for various farmers, Spencer City Sanitation for 12 years and All American Trucking for several years before retiring in 1990, due to ill health.

     Bill enjoyed camping, boating, fishing, gardening, playing cards, working in his yard, watching old Western movies and was very meticulous.  He loved animals and fed any stray animal that came along.  He also loved spending time with his family.

     Bill passed away at the Holy Family Hospital in Estherville, Iowa, on Friday, October 8, 2021, at the age of 83.  He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Justin Salmon and three brothers: Buzz, Bob and Jack Scott. 

     Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Barbara of Spencer, IA; two daughters: Debbie Salmon (John Lair) and Jeanne (Roger) Galbraith; three grandsons: Jason Salmon and family, Travis House and family, and Zach Galbraith and family; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Jerry Scott of Newton, IA; 3 half sisters; 2 half brothers; other relatives and friends.

SERVICES
Graveside services will be held 11:00 A.M., Thursday, October 14, 2021 at the Riverside Cemetery in Spencer.
