Leah F. Nielsen

Leah F. Nielsen, the daughter of Knute and Ruby Warriner Krohn, was born March 31, 1910 in Clay County. Leah received her early education at the Garfield School in Webb, Iowa. Leah married Alfred Nielsen on October 31, 1925 in Webb, Iowa. Following their marriage they lived in Webb, they then moved to Curlew in 1937 and Sioux Rapids in 1947 until 1980 when she moved to Storm Lake. In 2003, Leah moved to Northshire Residence in Spencer, Iowa. Leah worked as a nurse's aide at the Sioux Rapids Care Center in Sioux Rapids, Iowa for 10 years and she also babysat for many children. She was a member of the Sioux Rapids Methodist Church and the Sioux Rapids Women's Society. Leah was a great baseball fan and enjoyed quilting which she had made a quilt for her children and each grandchild. Mrs. Nielsen passed away on May 30, 2008 at the Spencer Hospital at the age of 98. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alfred on January 10, 1955; one son and one daughter; her sister and brother. She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Jones and her husband, Wendell of Linn Grove, Iowa and her son, Raymond Nielsen and his wife, Marilyn of Algona, Iowa; 6 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Maxine Nielsen of Noblesville, IN; sister-in-law, Dorothy Krohn of Storm Lake, IA; special niece, Jeanette Krohn of LeMars, IA other relatives and friends.

Memorial Services will be held at 10:30am on Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at the Warner Chapel in Spencer
