Leah Faye Sanderson, the daughter of George and Josephine Monson Johnson, was born June 15, 1921 in Sioux Rapids, Iowa. Leah received her early education at Cornell Consolidated School and graduated from the Sioux Rapids High School. She then attended Buena Vista University where she earned a teaching degree. She began teaching at Washington No. 6 in Buena Vista County and later taught in Webb and Sioux Valley Schools.
On June 27, 1943, Leah married Donald Sanderson in Sioux Rapids, Iowa. Following their marriage, they farmed in the Webb area for 40 years. In 1984, they moved to Spencer. Leah was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Webb where she was involved in the United Methodist Women and taught Sunday school. She was also a member of Federated Club in Webb. In her spare time, Leah enjoyed gardening and reading. She also enjoyed oil painting and handcrafted personalized birthday cards and bookmarks for her family and friends. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
Leah passed away on January 7, 2012, at Ruthven Care Center at the age of 90. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald and one brother, John Johnson. She is survived by her three sons: George and Claudia of Webb, Jim and Arlene of Waterloo, IA and Dale of Iowa City, IA; 7 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter; two sisters: Ardis (Rollie) Kruse of Albert City, IA and Margaret Owens of Des Moines, IA; other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday,January 10, 2012 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Webb.
