Lee Schmidt

June 4, 1953 — March 12, 2015

Lee Allen Schmidt, the son of Donald and Barbara (Wieben) Schmidt, was born on June 4, 1953 in Spencer, Iowa. His childhood years were spent on the farm in Royal and Everly. Lee attended school in Everly, IA and graduated from Every High School in 1971. After graduation, Lee spent many years working on the farm and the farm implement industry. Farming was a true passion in his life and he always had a knack for making farm equipment work better. After moving to Florida in 2006, Lee primarily did construction work, including numerous projects for family and friends. Lee loved all sports, especially his Iowa Hawkeyes. He enjoyed spending time with his many friends in Florida with his dog Tina by his side. Lee passed away peacefully on March 12, 2015 in Port Charlotte, FL after a courageous bout with Cancer. Lee was a kind and generous soul, a stranger to no one and dearly loved his family and friends. Lee will be greatly missed by all the people who were lucky enough to have him touch their life. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Heidi Petersen of Lakefield, MN, John Schmidt and Casey Schmidt of Milford, IA; grandchildren, Dalton and Kaylin Petersen; mother, Barbara Schmidt Johnson of Spencer, IA; brothers, Monte (Renee) Schmidt , Mark (Sherry) Schmidt and Luke (Mindy Meinking) Schmidt and his sister Katie (Mike) Shore; other relatives and many friends.
