Leland George Hagerty, the son of Roy Oscar and Rose Louise Krug Hagerty, was born March 21, 1925 in Spencer, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in Spencer, where he received his education. Following his schooling, he entered the military and served with the U.S. Army during WWII. Following his honorable discharge from the Army, he moved back to Spencer until 1954, when he moved to Joliet, Illinois. While in Joliet, he worked for Fisher Body (General Motors) in Willow Springs, IL as a press operator for 30 years.
Lee married Phyllis Holderman on November 14, 1964 in Dixon, Illinois. Following their marriage, they continued to live in Illinois, until they retired and moved back to Spencer in 1984. He was an active member of Glen Pedersen Post #1 of the American Legion in Spencer.
Mr. Hagerty passed away on Saturday, July 14, 2007 at the age of 82. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Sally Jo; 2 brothers: Oscar & Kenneth and a sister, Ruth.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis of Spencer; a son, Michael Kenneth and his wife, Sheila of Spencer; a granddaughter, Mikala; his mother-in-law, Elizabeth Holderman of Spencer; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, July 18, 2007 at the Warner Chapel in Spencer.
