Lena (Lee) V. Steely Wright

February 14, 1913 — November 28, 2008

Lena "Lee" V. Steely-Wright, the daughter of Charles and Myrtle (Gordy) Ulin, was born February 14, 1913 in Ottumwa, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where she received her education, graduating from Washington High School. Lee married Guy Nelson Steely on August 4, 1936 and to this union three children were born, Jacklynn, Roger and Richard. Following their marriage, they continued to live in Sioux Falls. During a brief time while Guy was in the Navy during WWII Lee and the children moved to California to be closer to each other. After WWII they moved back to Sioux Falls until moving to Spencer in 1956. Lee was employed by the Clay County Engineering Department as a secretary following Guy's death in January of 1963. She met another wonderful man, George Wright and they later married and moved to Des Moines, Iowa where she was employed as a teller at the Central National Bank. They moved to Mason City, Iowa in 1968. George passed away in 1982 and Lee then returned to live in Spencer. Lee was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer, where she was a member of the ladies guild. Lee enjoyed playing cards, being outdoors, loved to travel and mostly enjoyed her family and grandkids. She was a member of the Moose Lodge where she enjoyed socializing with her friends. Later in her years, she resided at Riverview Terrace where she enjoyed participating in many events including dominos and most importantly being a member of the bell ringing group and performing in front of many guests. Lee went to be with the Lord at the Spencer Hospital on Friday, November 28, 2008 at the age of 95. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Guy Steely, her second husband, George Wright, and two sisters; Vera Baker and Helen Minier. Left to cherish her memory are her three children; Jackie and her husband, Jerry Kisecker of Sioux Falls, SD, Roger and his wife, Carol Steely of Spencer, IA' and Dick and his wife, Kathy Steely of Gilbert, AZ; seven grandchildren; Lynda Johnson, Jeff Kisecker, Troy Steely, Leanne Schenk, Kim Stutting, Todd Steely and Traci Mosley;' 12 great-grandchildren: Samira and Sasha Arabzadeh, Alex Kisecker, Parker and Quincy Schenk, Madison, Dawson and Brooklyn Stutting, Reagan and Taylor Steely, and Skyler and Jayden Mosley; one great-great-grandchild, Samia Arabzadeh; two sisters, Doris Wells of Long Beach, CA and Betty Zuliani of Huntington Beach, CA; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, December 3, 2008, at the Warner Chapel in Spencer, IA
