Leona Maria (Brinkert) Zaiser, was born October 24, 1917, in Sheldon, Iowa, the daughter and fifth child of Herman and Alvina (Zinn) Brinkert. When she was two years old, they moved to Hartley where she attended school.
On September 10, 1932 she married Harolyn Zaiser. Their early married life was spent on the Henry Zaiser farm north east of Hartley. Hal and Leona were blessed with two children, Billie and Gary. They moved to a farm four miles north of Hartley in 1945 where they lived until 1956 when they moved in to Hartley. Hal worked as a mechanic with several firms and, later, part time for O'Brien County until his death in 1984. Leona worked as a clerk at several businesses. In 2006, Leona moved into the Community Memorial Assisted Living Center.
Leona was a life long member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, serving on the Board of Stewardship, Secretary of the Ladies Aid, member of LWML and Treasurer of the Northwest Circuit. She was an avid golfer for which she won several trophies, enjoyed flower gardening and spending time with her family.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Billie and her husband, Harlan Geerdes; her son, Gary and his wife, Carol; eight grand children, ten great grand children and one great, great grand child. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three sisters and one brother.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hartley
