Leone (Shelmidine) Lamb, the daughter of David and Mae (Galusha) Shelmidine was born June 2, 1908, in Cresco, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in Milford and Spencer. She graduated from Spencer High School in 1927. After she graduated she attended the University of Southern California for two years where she earned a teaching certificate. She moved back to Clay County and taught country schools.
On September 1, 1934, Leone was united in marriage to her childhood sweetheart Vernon Lamb in Spencer, Iowa. Following their marriage they lived in Iowa City, Plattville, WI, and Maryland. While in Maryland she raised her family and operated a children's clothing store. In 1969, Leone and Vernon retired and moved back to the family farm near Royal. She lived in Royal and then at Riverview Terrace Assisted Living until October of this year.
Leone was a member of the Clay County Garden Club, and on the Royal Library Board. She enjoyed gardening but most of all she loved being with her family and Friends.
On November 14, 2008, Leone passed away with the aid of Hospice of Northwest Iowa at St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer at the age of 100. She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Vernon Lamb; her parents; 9 brothers and sisters; and two daughters-in-law.
Left to cherish her memory are her four sons: Jim (Amy) Lamb of Anthem, AZ, Mike Lamb of Tucson, AZ, Donald Lamb of Roanoke, TX, and John Lamb of rural Spencer, IA; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren; one sister Barbara A. Heathcote of Corvallis, OR; as well as many other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday, November 19, 1:30 p.m., at the Warner Funeral Home, Spencer, Iowa
